Alex Green has been teaching in London for 14 years. She is an SLE for phonics and is currently a Deputy Head at Chesterton Primary School alongside her role at the Wandle English Hub. She is passionate and enthusiastic with a strong determination that every child leaves school with a love for reading.

Davina Salmon has over twenty years of experience working in education, and she specialises in mentoring, leadership, teacher training and curriculum development, to name just a few. We are therefore very lucky to have Davina’s wisdom guiding us on our journey to help schools with their literacy provisions as best as we possibly can!

Perishma Patel

Perishma Patel has been teaching for 5 years at Granton Primary a 3-form, multicultural and diverse school. She has taught in Nursery,  Reception and Year 2.   Peri leads Early Reading and Phonics in her school and is passionate about reading for pleasure. She is driven to engage all children, particularly reluctant readers and writers, to ensure every child achieve and succeeds in reading.

Lara Kenneavy

Lara Kenneavy is a Year 3 Class Teacher and Early Reading Lead at Haslemere Primary School and has been teaching and leading in schools since 2003 and is a passionate, engaging teacher and impactful leader. Lara has taught a systematic phonics programme for over 10 years across the full primary age range, including Nursery, with high percentages of EAL, SEN and PP, achieving high standards of progress for all, irrespective of their starting point.

Katarzyna (Kasia) Ledwidge

Kasia Ledwidge is a Year 2 Class Teacher and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead at Pickhurst Infant Academy and has worked in a number of schools across London.   
Kasia is devoted to teaching in infant schools where she has a passion for early literacy and language development; she leads early reading and phonics.  She is an experienced, consistent, reliable, and knowledgeable classroom practitioner and a highly organised, enthusiastic, and approachable leader.  

Eleanor Rosewell

Eleanor Rosewell is a Class Teacher at New Valley Primary School and leads English within her school and co-leads across her trust.  She has passion for teaching English to younger years. She leads high-quality use of their chosen SSP scheme across Reception and KS1. She is now using elements of this programme throughout the school to support literacy development for SEN and EAL learners, in addition to implementing support for developing children’s prosody. 

Beatrice Durston

Beatrice Durston is the Assistant Headteacher and Literacy Lead at Heathmere Primary School. She has a proactive, enthusiastic and passionate approach in all aspects of her teaching and leading.  As part of this process at Heathmere, she leads teaching and learning in Phonics, Reading and Writing to ensure they are of a uniform and consistently high standard across all classes.

Vicki Stead

Vicki Stead is the Acting Assistant Headteacher at St Mary's Primary in Lewisham. She has been teaching in Lewisham since 2008 and since then she has gained experience in teaching in every year group from Nursery to Year 6.  She has responsibility for curriculum, teaching and learning and the training of early career teachers. Vicki is passionate about ensuring all teachers know where their children are in the early reading journey and that staff work together to ensure every child learns to read. 

Emily Douthwaite

Emily Douthwaite is a KS1 Phase Leader and year 2 class teacher at Bishop Gilpin CE Primary School. She is the English lead and has led the development of phonics, early reading, guided reading and reading for pleasure over the last 3 years. She is passionate that every child will develop the skills to become a confident, fluent reader who loves reading and who takes ownership of their journey as a reader.

Steph Stevens

Steph Stevens is an Assistant Head and English Lead at Wyvil Primary School and Resource Bases for Speech, Language and Communication Needs, and Autism in Lambeth. She is a Specialist Leader of Education for English and has worked across the primary age range for eleven years. ​Steph's motivation is to improve teaching and learning of English, particularly reading and Phonics, to ensure all children make outstanding progress academically and socially. She is committed to, and enjoys, supporting and leading colleagues to develop professionally.
